Criteria:

The recipient shall be a full-time student majoring in History. He/she shall have a GPA of at least 3.0 in history. Contributions to and/or membership in Phi Alpha Theta and the Campus Historical Forum (CHF) are considerations.

Dr. Shepherd was a professor of history at Chadron State College. He specialized in European history. During the summers he has traveled extensively both in the United States and abroad. "I'm always looking for new worlds to discover and explore. I like to see where history was made. It's a way to help me be a better teacher," he said.
